Adrienne
Most of my life, I was surrounded by addiction, violence and sickness and for as long as I can remember I struggled with anxiety and depression. As a teenager the absence of self-acceptance and self-love led me down some dark unhealthy paths. As a young adult I found myself keeping toxic relationships with my family members as well as abusive personal relationships. How different my path would have been if I had a place to go to and learn about inner healing.
In my late 20’s something inside of me wanted to change. I moved away from my hometown (Dallas GA), away from all that was familiar and ended up in Hawaii. I started spending all of my free time in a Buddhist temple learning about and practicing meditation. After about six months I noticed even more about myself changing. I no longer needed medication to enjoy social events. I no longer self-medicated to help me sleep. Slowly my mind, my body and my emotions began changing. The stillness I was practicing daily was allowing my whole self to begin healing from the inside out. My heart was filling with gratitude. Instead of holding anger for my past it was being replaced with compassion.
I was raised here in Dallas Ga and I am honored to come back home and share the gift of mindfulness, yoga & meditation with my community.

1. Secret Super power? I am a joy grabber. I will not accept the negative option. I know that there is an opportunity for joy in everything, even painful or unpleasant things. I seek out the joy and try to nurture it so that it grows bigger and more beautiful, like a colorful mushroom fruiting on a decaying tree.
2. Spirit Animal? This one is difficult. I was told by my girls a list including gopher tortoise, otter, praying mantis, and dolphin. I can think of reasons that I align with all of these. I might relate myself to a song bird. Singing my way through life unplanned, living among the trees, sometimes flying off into my imagination, but always there to nurture those I love.
3. Classes you teach at Bee
I teach Yoga Basics every Wednesday. I This class creates an opportunity for fellowship with other yogis. It allows people to get to know their fellow Bee Humble students in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
4. What someone can expect in your class.
My class is a mix of active and restorative yoga. I like to acknowledge the often wound up state we're in at the end of a day with some active movement, it's nice to bring it down to the floor for some restful poses with lots of props and support.
5. Best advice for a new student.
Just do it. Yoga will reward you generously if you simply step into your practice and discover yourself in the special way that yoga will reveal it.
6. What do you personally love about yoga?
I love the relationships I have found through yoga. Yoga has brought me physical, emotional and mental healing. It helps me process daily life and nurture my precious body. It is the best way I have found to give my body, mind and soul a great big hug.
7. Interest outside of yoga
I love spending time outdoors. You might find me paddle boarding, bird watching, fishing with my hubby or just exploring and resting in nature spaces. Gardening, splitting wood, trimming trees and building fires are some of my favorite chores. Or I might be holed up on my porch reading or studying the mysterious workings of nature and the human body all afternoon with a nourishing cup of herbal tea.
